Jan Kolmas

I am an aerospace engineer with experience in drones and satellite systems. My full bio is on LinkedIn.

Education

My background includes a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from Stanford University, where I worked on small satellite design, and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University, where I worked on UAV, rocket and balloon projects.

Work experience

I worked on several satellite missions at the European Space Agency (ESA), started a company for processing satellite images, then moved to work for a drone manufacturer. Since 2025, I also freelance in various aerospace projects.

Personal projects

In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, 3D printing, and other DIY electronics projects. I also contribute to LibreCube, an open-source satellite platform project.

I help startups and small companies develop aerospace products from concept to launch.
